~ Desert Wind~

The hot desert wind

threads it's soft fingers

through my hair

and caresses my face

like a lovers gentle touch.

The darkness

surrounds and envelops me

easing the emptiness

of the night.

I close my eyes

and feel time slipping by

slowly moving

like a rippling current

through my soul.

I open my eyes 

and all that was

and all that ever will be

stretches out before me

until it rises with the highway

and disappears 

over the distant horizon
into forever.
